Academia TEBA Languages, in partnership with PPLI / Languages Connect, is delighted to offer Irish primary school teachers a Spanish Language Immersion Course in Granada, from 28 March to 2 April 2027, with 50% funding available.

This grant is facilitated by PPLI / Languages Connect and funded by the Irish Department of Education and Youth under the Foreign Language Upskilling Scheme for Primary Teachers.

Course information

Spanish Language Immersion Course for Irish Primary School Teachers

The programme is designed to help teachers develop their Spanish language skills, strengthen their confidence in the classroom and explore new approaches to language teaching. It aims to support teachers in building their Spanish language proficiency in preparation for the introduction of Modern Foreign Languages as part of the redeveloped Primary School Curriculum.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn alongside other Irish primary school teachers, meet Spanish primary school teachers and take part in an authentic cultural and linguistic immersion experience in Granada.

Sunday, 28 March to Friday, 2 April 2027

This one-week intensive course will take place in Granada, Spain, during the Easter Holiday break.

Funding, Eligibility & Application Process

50% Funding Available – Spanish Language Immersion Grant

Thanks to the Spanish Language Immersion Grant, facilitated by PPLI / Languages Connect and funded by the Irish Department of Education and Youth, eligible teachers can participate in the programme with 50% of the cost covered.

What's Included?

The programme fee includes:

  • Intensive Spanish language tuition
  • Full-board accommodation
  • Scheduled cultural and educational activities, including a visit to a local primary school

Additional Expenses

Participants are fully responsible for arranging and covering:

  • Return travel from Ireland to Spain
  • Transfers between their arrival airport or other point of arrival in Spain and Granada
  • Optional activities not included in the programme
  • Personal expenses

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be primary school teachers registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland
  • Have a Spanish language proficiency level of A2.2–B1, in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Complete an online Spanish language assessment as part of the application process
  • Submit a personal statement outlining their motivation for participating in the course

Application & Selection Process

Applications will be jointly reviewed by PPLI / Languages Connect and Academia TEBA Languages, and all applicants will be notified of the outcome of the selection process.

All applications will then be reviewed as part of the selection process, and applicants will be notified of the outcome.

Complete the Level Test

Once you have submitted the registration form, complete the online Spanish level assessment. The test contains 50 multiple-choice questions of increasing difficulty, from A2 to B1, and takes approximately 20 minutes.
